Orissa lost to Jharkhand despite Patel`s allround show

Fine performance by all-rounder Paresh Patel went in vain as Orissa suffered a 96-run defeat against Jharkhand in their East Zone Ranjit Trophy one-day league match at Maligaon, Assam today. Patel bagged five wickets with his left-arm spin bowling to help Orissa restrict Jharkhand to 261 for nine in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply, Orissa batsmen put up a disappointing performance to be dismissed for 165 in 37.3 overs. Patel made 25, while wicketkeeper Haladhar top scored with 35. This was Orissa`s first defeat after two wins over Assam and Tripura. They will play their last league tie against Bengal on March 3.
